I purchased eleven br 30 Cree lights from Home Depot for my cans. I really like the soft light ones. They do not dim as much as the incandescents. But I have had 2 bulbs that started to occasionally flicker. Home Depot replaced them without complaint. Cree is supposed to be one of the big players.
Funny you should mention it. I just went down to our local Home Depot last night and bought a Cree 75W equivalent bulb (13.5 watts actual) that is rated at 1100 lumens.
I got it to replace our main kitchen fixture at home, but it is a garish white rather than the soft white. The intensity is outrageous. For some reason every time I go in the kitchen I think I see Gandalf with his wizard's staff lit up. That bulb might be going back in favor of a softer light, not sure yet.
We have a bunch of the Cree 60 watt equivalent type. We've had them over a year in the cabin and almost that long at home. I think the first ones were $13 or more each. They do come in a "daylight" approximation and a warmer white, yellowish warm. Color temperature is a matter of personal preference. We have been a fan of the daylight variety for years. Neither one of us like the warm, yellowish color cast.
