Title: concrete pads/piers
Post by: busted knuckles on June 13, 2014, 01:56:47 AM
Hi everyone.  Been lurking off and on.  Trying to decide on a design.  I was looking pretty hard at a concrete pier foundation. Looking online I found this....  http://countryplans.com/nyikos.html .  How would this fare as a foundation?  Holes filled with crushed rock,  to the frost line., then short piers poured.  Maybe bigfoot sonotube piers about 18 inches tall.  I want to build this,     http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/ian-lorne-kent-nomad-micro-home      (http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/ian-lorne-kent-nomad-micro-home)but 12x20,  basicly 2 of these.  Side by side.  I will be building this in the okanagan valley.  The Canadian side of eastern Washington. Would wind be an issue with this type of foundation?

When a building is taller than wide there is automatically a wind issue, especially with this type of foundation.

What kind of wood is that deck made out of?
Is it a hardwood of some kind or is it stained pine?
Very pretty.
