Title: Universal Cottage + Attached Garage
Post by: stevecho1 on March 27, 2014, 08:40:38 AM
Greetings!  My first post here.

My wife and I were heading down the "bigger house" path, and the thing is we have so many other things we want to spend money on (garden/farming, orchards, fences, livestock, etc.).  SO we're starting to look at building a smaller house instead.

That's when I happened upon this wonderful site and community.  It seems like folks are able to get all the creature comforts they need while at the same time keeping things simple (and more inexpensive!).

One of our needs is a 2-car attached garage, and I'll be darned if I can't really get an inspiration for how to build an attached garage onto the Universal Cottage in a way that kinda "fits" the design of the house.

Can anyone help me out of this idea-rut I'm in?  Thanks a ton!

w*  I'm not completely versed with this particular plan but from looking at the picture of the 2 story the garage configuration would depend on which way you were going to face your entrance.  If the long side will be your entrance then it could go on either end with the roof pitch the same as the house only that it would be a one story garage.  You might search the forum for Universal Cottage ( search key next to your profile key in the menu bar)for others that have built this particular style and see if any have added a garage.

This is what I was speaking of.
