Title: roof venting
Post by: busted knuckles on February 09, 2014, 07:11:39 PM
Hi everyone.  I am considering a strawbale home.  Similar to a yurt. With a heaxagonal roof on top, supported by a timber in the center.  How do I vent the roof?  If I can't vent,  is sprayfoam a solution?  I am thinking of a sheetmetal roof.  Look forward to your replies.

Hexagon roof + metal panels = lots of cutting the metal and lots of ridge cap material. Not my cup of tea, but that's okay.

Is the vision to have a cathedral type raised ceiling with the hexagonal roof shape showing inside? Or is the plan to have a flat ceiling for the room below the roof?  One story?

A roof with a flat ceiling / attic space could be vented with a cupola at the peak and soffit vents as standard around the perimeter.

I never thought of a flat ceiling.  I would prefer a vaulted ceiling. One story.
