Title: DIY Water Treatment
Post by: hpinson on January 22, 2014, 11:50:21 AM
This is a good article on DIY water treatment, should the need arise.  It also has helpful discussion of chlorine shock treatment should your well or water source contain coliform bacteria (which is very likely). Even if you treat the water the bacteria will very likely come back. Two things I learned is that bottled chlorine bleach has a very limited shelf life, and how corrosive and toxic chlorine can be.

I am understanding that "Pool Shock" is not intended for human consumption. But calcium hypochlorite instead, which is available from well supply companies.
