Title: Heater For A Small Space
Post by: MountainDon on November 25, 2013, 10:34:39 PM
Here's a project a guy built for a small sailboat; uses charcoal briquettes. Might be worth looking into for a small cabin. It would also be easy enough to draw the combustion air from outside. Maybe use a B vent for the chimney? He built it for a boat, but built this before the boat so we don't know how he vented the exhaust.

Considering that charcoal is a super source of CO,  careful construction and air tightness would be mandatory. Some heat shields would be needed too IMO.

Many years ago we circumnavigated Vancouver Island on a 30' C&C sailboat.  It got freakin' COLD!  Thank goodness the boat had one of these.  Keep thinking about adding one to a workshed here at the place.

Could also opt for the "solid fuel" version:
