Last month we visited a friends finca in the country- we were rather surprised when the gates were answered by men with Uzi's and shot guns
One of the guest houses on the "farm" was this one, built from local timber in a style I've not seen before.
We did'nt ask what daddy did for a business, but we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend !

What? Doesn't everyone? ???
;D ;D ;D
That is a lot of posts isn't it.
"What? Doesn't everyone? "
normally when we visit a friends 'finca" there's two rows of barb wire- a scruffy skinny dog and the village idiot as finca keeper.
The farm above produces mangostines-aguacate-oranges- along side the imaculate guest area, in line with shangrila hotel
Helicopters from the nearby military base cruise over every 30min while we were in the pool
It used to be a Farc controlled area- for arround 10 years they were not able to visit their land, they had 15 fila brazileras which suplemented the armed guards
The rows of kennels are still there.
Most of the other fincas we have visited - they grew fruit and have the odd cow, being the ancenstral home of the family , but as generations moved to the cities they are left as weekend houses out of the smog of the Bog.
The red and black parts of the construction are steel, the rest is wood - with not a simson bracket in sight !
def. finca = rural or agricultural estate. :D
"Fincas have been part of Spanish culture for centuries and the term traditionally refers to a rural or agricultural estate. More recently, fincas have become popular as holiday homes, with their typically countryside setting offering a perfect escape from city life. In Colombia there's an abundance of fincas that dot the farmlands surrounding many of the country's cities and towns."

Why are they built up on stilts? Flooding?
marauding bandits? Better angle for shooting at them?
no reason for the stilts other than building something diferent- the other buildings- guest houses are concrete on the ground normal structures.
