Title: Outside Walls: 2X4 or 2X6?
Post by: VannL on February 24, 2013, 06:49:26 PM
I'm not sure I would miss the 3 extra inches overall if it means a stronger structure. I would enjoy, though, the extra space for insulation. There would be extra expense, although minimal, and the extra weight which could add up.

Thoughts?

I haven't re-read those so I can not vouch for accuracy of any claims made.

Thanks Don. That second link was chalk full of lots of interesting thoughts, and not just about the exterior walls, but self-building in general. Just gets my blood flowing to get my batter boards up next weekend and dig me some holes.
