I think it could have a creeping effect into other stuff.   But, then again, if they want to track you they will without this.

As far as helping with accident investigations...the current techniques are so advanced that this adds little...so that is a straw dog, or whatever it is called.

oilfield wise most major players use them - for safety reasons mostly but they do help with accident investigation

speed - breaking cornering and accelaration is recorded and alarms set

Each month the data is down loaded- if your in the red for three months then you don't drive company vehicles anymore untill you have re-completed the company driving course.

It was set in place due to driving accidents being the biggest killer in the company.

Yep they are a pain.......but today heart attacks are now the major killer

We still loose people every year - the company works very hard to improve driving safety.

Now do I want others to see what i do where I go.....probably not.

Phone companies track you- probably every one with that vehicle allert system is it on star ?

They track you too.

The worst thing is its not for safety - its for marceting purposes- your privacy out the window for a cheap sale
