Monsanto is perhaps the exception to the rule that corporations are amoral
It acts like a criminal cabal
The sued a small dairy in WI because it labled their milk BST free
Monsanto argued that it could be interpreted as accusing BST milk to be inferior
the settled out of court because the dairy could not afford to defend themselves
then there is Percy Schmeiser in Cananda and the GMO canola fiasco
Monsanto developed the 'terminator gene" that makes plant's seed sterile -- the USDA helped them
Interesting.
It appears that the people representing the main plaintiffs are 2 law professors at Yeshiva University.
The rest of the plaintiffs are being represented by a pro-bono software law center.
It seems that most of the plaintiffs representation is probably probono. Outgunned?
Monsanto is represented by Wilmer Hale. They had 6 attorneys enter their appearance. Almost all are Harvard, Yale, or Stanford educated, usually with multiple degrees from both.
Monsanto took this seriously. They are spending a lot of money on this.
The complaint was filed in the Southern District of NY, Manhattan.
Almost all motions for the past year have been for a motion to dismiss for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
Monsanto has not yet answered the complaint.
