So I went to use some grace ice and water shield the other day, and it wasn't sticky at all. Anyone ever run into this? It was a little over 40 degrees, and the instructions say only use at 40 F or higher. Wondering if I need to wait for a warmer day or if I got some defective product.
It's fine, it just doesn't stick this time of year. If you can wait till it and the surfaces are warmer it'll work better, otherwise nail it... and that is definitely a second choice. Then if you wait for midsummer if you look at it wrong the stuff will stick together in a 3' wide ball of tangled duct tape. I love the stuff :D
In the UK we have sticky flashing and yep in winter no- sticky
we did one of two things - the aluminumised version we put in place and lightly used a propane torch to activate the adhesive
on one site with lots of flashing required we used an electric bed blanket to get things sticky
put the flashing in place covered with the bed warmer and some old blankets
it did'nt take long to get them warm enough and then used rollers to get out any wrinkles
Nice, thanks guys, will hold on to it until a warmer day.
could leave it on the roof in the sun, still warm up quite a bit in the afternoon.
