Came across this site - for those who like tents / semi-permanent structures:
http://www.livabletent.com
Here is another one.
Not cheap, but interesting and very liveable under the right conditions. This is where I started before it morphed into a house.

For those who have access to a few trees on their property, here's a direct link to an article that I wrote for 'The Mother Earth News' nearly 28 years ago. I had named the article "Temporary Shelter For Determined Homesteaders" but they changed it to "Pole Shelter Building For Home-Owners (http://pole%20shelter%20building%20for%20home-owners)". Hopefully the article can still help some folks get onto their property during the building of their 'permanent' home.
The http://www.livabletent.com links to a few other very interesting review sites. If you scroll down from the top of the page a bit you will see a dropdown menu: "Also Visit My Other Websites Select from Box Below & Click 'go' Button".
Each of the many choices is quite interesting. Small Cabin Plans, Wall Tents, Domes, Tipis, Yurts, Portable Living, Motor Scooters, Canvas Sneakers (??? an odd and very interesting assortment of reviews ???).
Dave, check your link, I'd like to read the article :)
