Title: Which Trade Builds a Raised Pier & Beam Foundation ??
Post by: rw7810 on December 30, 2011, 01:56:15 PM
First time home builder.  Building in East Tx, near Tyler.  This will be a farmhouse style with pier & beam designed foundation, either spot piers or piers on a continuous footing depending on what the engineer decides.  Not sure which trade crew would do this since involves both concrete for the piers and beams for the 1st floor??

I am reasonably sure that the continuous perimeter footing would be the way to go; but that's why you have hired an engineer, to find out for certain.

I would think the concrete guys would do the continuous footer and the concrete piers according to the engineers design and then the carpenters would take over from there with the wooden beams.
