Title: roxul and mice?
Post by: egghead on December 03, 2011, 08:12:49 AM
Building an 1800sqf passive solar barn house up in mouse country New Hampshire. I'm ready to put up the insulation and I'm aiming towards roxul comfort batts between my 2x6 framing with 2in polyiso foamboard on the interior under the sheetrock. I hate mice in walls. So I need to be 100% sure that whatever I insulate with does not become a home to the vermin... anyone have experience with this stuff? Does anyone know of any manufacturers of borate treated fiberglass? Or others batt options?

I would concentrate my efforts on keeping the mice and other rodents out of the wall, floor, ceiling, etc spaces. If all possible nooks and crannies that mice may use are blocked properly you won't have any concerns.

The National Park Service has a Rodent Exclusion Manual (//http://) that may be useful
