Title: The Protest Pole
Post by: peternap on November 30, 2011, 12:51:39 PM
It's hard to catch everything that's going on during an event...especially a protest or demonstration.

After considerable thought and Redneck Engineering, I came up with the protest pole.
It's windy as the devil today so It's only up 7 and a half feet. That's the minimum height but it'll go over 9.

I have to work on the HD settings because I have some Jello, but overall, I'm pleased.

We'll see how it goes at the demonstration I'm filming tomorrow c*

Good deal! Have you considered putting a weight pouch on it (hooked to each leg under the apex) to keep it stable?

No, what it needed was a more rigid shaft and a better connection to the tripod than the QD mounts.

I'm using 1.5" aluminum tubing now and using a tripod that goes with my Transit. The tube goes through the hole in the tripod and has a spike that goes into the ground. I'll have to make a removable foot for paved surfaces.
