Was just thinking about how cool it would be to have a magazine devoted to owner-builders, cabins/cottages/homesteads built by them. Kind of a Fine Homebuilding meets MotherEarth News. The only problem is, have no idea about how to do it! Anybody got info, suggestions, or tips? I was thinking that there could be featured houses, completed and under construction, with profiles of their builder/owners, tech articles focusing on related procedures, editorials, and product features.
That is is a good idea. My newspaper ran a artical on that.
Told how to do it and were to go to get started. Wish I could remember.

For e-zine, start a small website such as CP, get a membership base, start with a newsletter and let it grow from there, perhaps membership to a pay portion of the site entitles you to a subscription. Something like this: http://www.backwoodshome.com/ what you have in mind? (obviously different topic, but the concept)
Rodale actually HAD a magazine devoted to the do it youself homeowner with a pretty distinct conservation bent. It was definitely a cross betwee Mother Earth News and Fine Homebuilding.
Here's one that's been around for a year or so. Sometime extremely interesting. But there would be lots of room for a handful of these with different slants.
