Title: Walnut quarantine in eastern VA
Post by: Don_P on September 21, 2011, 09:17:48 PM
Also, you may recall, the Fall 2010 edition of the Update featured an article on the Thousand Cankers Disease of Black Walnut. At that time, the disease had not been found in Virginia. However, in August, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services placed a quarantine on Chesterfield and Henrico Counties, where the disease had been found, and the nearby City of Richmond. No walnut trees, including any of their parts, can be removed from the quarantine areas (this includes nuts, logs, stumps, roots, branches, mulch and chips). Please help stop the spread of this fatal disease by abiding by the quarantine.

Well, I for one will be certain not to do that.

Seriously though please do heed that if you are in the area.
