I want to buy another vehicle (Truck or other 4wd).
It doesn't have to be pretty, just run well and have 4wd and not too expensive. I made the mistake of looking on Craigslist, saw a Jeep and asked if it was still available.
Just got this email c*
QuoteHello,
Thanks for being interested in buying my car. I'm in Lincoln Ne right now and I have been very busy. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying the car.
Why is the price so low I am going trough a divorce, and I had to move with my job. So all that I want to do now is to sell the car at this price, because I need to sell it fast. The title is clean and you will have absolutely no problems to register the car.It is in immaculate condition, rust free, no scratch and hasn't been involved in any accident. It has 80,700 miles. The motor runs very well (8 Cylinder), transmission automatic. The interior looks great (NO SMOKING).This car needs nothing. I want this transaction to go smoothly enough as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and have little time at my disposal.I already have tones of emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out. The price is $4,400 and I'll take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions.
After that obvious scam Jane and I had to go back to Richmond to take care of some banking. I had a fair amount of cash so I was wearing my usual farm outfit plus a 1911.
No one at the brokerage even blinked until they fouled up the paperwork and I gave my definition of idiots in three piece suits that lose things.
Anyway...after that I got out of the city and went by the place I get my tires from. Jane needed 4 new ones. One of the owners was there and I asked if he knew of any 4wd vehicles, either a Yuppy truck (SUV) or a crew cab pickup.
He had one he'd just gotten for his wife. It was too big for her so he was going to sell it until a truck brushed it in the parking lot. I do more damage on tree branches in my road. It was an 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the six cylinder I love.
Aside from the truck damage, it was pristine in and out, low mileage and he had just put new tires on it and had his mechanics go over the front end.
He said he wanted $6,000.00 and when I pointed out it didn't have a trailer hitch, he dropped to $5,000.00. I nearly broke my arm writing the check. ;D
Funny the way things work out sometimes, sounds like you scored a great deal on that Jeep! [cool]

Cool
Maybe....I have 2 days to change my mind and reading a little about the electrical problems with the 06 GC is making me nervous.
I had a ghost in the electric in 2 of the 3 Jeeps I've owned. I currently have no problems with my 06 wrangler (last year of the straight 6). I started to think they were as bad as my MG.

Jane's Landrover wrote the book on electrical problems. That's what's making me nervous.
On the other hand...like you said, it's the last of the straight sixes. It would be nice and it has enough mileage to have had the computer replaced. Some of the other problems I can ignore.
"Jane's Landrover wrote the book on electrical problems."
I saw a T-shirt at a car show

That's funny.
The British motor industry also used to have problems with the quality of the rubber tubing they used. Twenty + years ago the best way to improve the reliability of a Jag was to replace every foot on tubing, and there was a lot in the emissions controls, with new American rubber.

That's really funny because that's the first thing you do to a China tractor, the second is change the fluids. :-\
Anyway, I backed out of the Jeep. I just couldn't stand the thought of another leverite there, in the family.
That worked out well though because I found a beautiful 95 Bronco for half the price that looks like it's been a garage for the last ten years. It has locking hubs which I love, has a 351 which is a little hard on gas but will pull anything I have....I took the extra cash and bought a new trailer. I have a low boy and a 4X6 and needed something in between so I got a 6X10.
I also picked up 4 new batteries for an extra bank. These are fiberglass mat batteries. Rated at 420 minutes (I forget the amperage) which is the equivalent of a little over 4 of the old ones....so it's like a bank of 16 of my old golf cart batteries.

Now that's funny. good old Lucas,(prince of darkness), my bsa and triumph proved it more than once.
Lucas also made refridgerators, thus the reason Brit's drink warm beer. ::)
That's a score on the Jeep, does it have the V8?
As far as British electrics....My dad used to use that line too zion [rofl2]
He had a couple Jags back in the 70's.
