Title: Metal roof transition?
Post by: phalynx on August 01, 2011, 11:12:12 PM
For you metal roof experts, what should you use to transition from a 6/12 roof pitch to a 2/12 roof pitch to keep it from leaking?  The metal has lined up perfectly and there is very little gaps in most of the roof.  I figure there is some kind of rubber membrane that can be applied or something.  What is highly recommended?  I have about 4 inches of underlap.  This is "channel groove" sheet metal roofing.

Probably a good urethane caulk - bonds to the metal - tough and sticks like flies on stink.

I have used a couple of brands with the steel company.  I have seen Sika around - like Sika flex... and used another one.  Don't get it on you - it does not like to come off.

Here is what I would recommend to finish that break

It tucks under the top sheet and over the lower sheet.  If you use inside and outside closure strips to finish the ribs in the steel you will have no problems with bugs or anything getting under the steel.
