Atlantis is coming home shortly........gonna try to see the landing....653 EST
Seems like yesterday that Columbia lifted off 30 years ago.....April 1981
Many thanks to the United States and NASA ..........I'm proud of you.

I forgot to thank you for the link above Sparks, had it up for 2 days poking around in the cabin. Good luck viewing the landing. Now that we're gone the ruskies are probably going to throw a wild party and trash the place up there.
The space station... I thought it was the Russians space station? There only because they started it....
Seems they should be able to party and mess up their own room. :)
Gone to the moon..US.. pretty much proven to be a hoax because the Russians beat us so we had to use special effects in Hollywood.
Sorry ....couldn't resist. :)

Right before the last shuttle ends we all need to dress up in ape suits.....pass it on!
I got wakened this morning by that enormous double sonic boom, for the last time, as the Shuttle came in for a landing this morning. Shook the house, rattled the windows, and scared the hell out of the cat (and me).
The end of an era. Kind of sad. :(

Got it, Stinky and remember...... Ape shall not kill ape...... [waiting]
We got a pretty good boom here, too. The news said we wouldn't hear it due to the distance, but it was a good one.
Am I the only one who thinks the shuttle crew should have done a smoky burn-out after the last landing, ala NASCAR?
I got up early Thursday morning, made a pot of coffee, and nodded off for what seemed like 30 seconds....more like an hour......missed the landing....oh well
The burn out thing sounds kinda cool, but I believe that happened on take-off. :)
And the Rooskies have probably been partying up there for years.
We'll still have a space program, it will just have a whole different look than what most of us have witnessed over the last 50 years.
Atlantis landed on July 20, 2011.....the end of an era.
Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969.....42 years to the day earlier......a small part of the beginning of what ultimately lies before mankind's feet......if we as a species will choose it.

Gee.....
Seems like yesterday that I spent hours looking up at night to see Sputnik pass over. ???

I dunno, Glenn... I'm open to conspiracy theories and agree with most of yours, but I've looked into the moon hoax stuff a lot and don't really buy it.. Besides, pulling off such an enormous deception would be almost as impressive as actually going to the moon anyway. :) But at any rate, what do you think of the continued use of the equipment left there, and the satellite imagery of the landing sites?

If it were a huge hoax, I just don't understand why it would have been worth it to "them"...
You would think if Apollo was a hoax the Russians would have made a big deal out of exposing it back then; would have really made the US look stupid. But the Ruskies were not there first so they could not do that.
Either that or the whole dang thing from Gemini through Apollo and the Space Shuttle, including the international space station and maybe Soyuz and Mir too, is all a hoax. Nobody went anywhere and both the Russians and the US movie entertainment/propaganda machines poured out feature after feature. ;)

Finally..... [ouch]
If the Russians were not there to see it they would or could not expose it.

Seems to be a lot of good arguments against it, but look at the motivation... money... fame.... scholarships?.... study grants?.... tax money to lots of entities who wanted it....
Looks believable to me, Andrew. :)
