I was a young consumerist fanatic when i read Walden and Civil Disobedience. Struck a deep chord with me that holds to today. Some of the writings never leave my mind.

All men recognize the right of revolution; that is, the right to refuse allegiance to, and to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable.

And this was written in 1849. How true does it ring now?
