I picked up this little gem, a while back.

Had one many years ago, but I kinda missbehaved a bit.  d*

 Really nice set of 'ears'......

Cool - I used to like to listen to shortwave. There were stories on it every so often.

I picked up this one for 700 dollars. The first one I bought in 1984 was 1700 dollars brand new. Yaesu only made them from 1984 to 1987. They're collector items now days.

Like I said, they are probably one of the best set of 'ears' to use for listening.....

the short wave band from 1.8 to 30 mhz is chock full of all kinds of interesting stuff.

And the 980 has one mighty fine transmitter.......... if you know how to unlock it.  ;)

Are you licensed?  If not, study to pass the Technician and General tests and get your license and use that thing.  Well worth it.  My call is K7VZ.
