Still looking for windows. My local Home Depot has some Jeld Wen all wood windows on close out. They are treated with Auralast with a 20 year warranty. They will not rot or are bug edible according to the manufacturer. They are primed on the exterior. I know I will have to paint the wood but that is also a good thing for aesthetics. It also looks better on the interior with the pine. Cheap vinyl windows or cheap wood windows?
Recycled wood sash. Free at the dump, or from any local contractor who installs windows:

I would havve to say, because I dislike maintenance, go Fiberglass. Looks like wood and is going to outlast your kids with minimal maintenance
looks like I'm going with jeld wen windows. I picked up 5 on craigslist for $450. Brand new still in the packaging. He showed me receipt for 230 a window. Includes low e and a 20 yr warranty against rot and insects. Big windows 36x72. Home Depot has the rest of them (smaller windows) on close out for less than 100 each.
