Title: Frame bracing problem
Post by: poppy on March 11, 2011, 02:20:12 PM
The question of bracing comes up all the time.  Here is a winter scene from today of an old tobacco barn close to my properties.

Pretty good braces in one direction, but the other way...  :o

I drive by hundreds of these around my place.  It is so depressing.   They then just sit and rot.  If they had just a little maintenance over the years the massive amounts of materials and labor put into them would be saved.  Many times the owners became too old to maintain them or they just passed away. Such a waste.

Notice how the Gambrel roof section is still fairly intact and "square".
