As meat gets more and more expensive, will we need to learn to eat bugs in order to survive?
Other countries eat lots of interesting things. Remember the rats in Myanmar?

"Three species: meal worms, buffalo worms and grasshoppers, are cultivated by three farmers in the Netherlands for a small but growing group of adventurous foodies. "
I've eaten grubs, ants and bees Glenn.
Taste like Chicken [scared]
Doesn't everything?
[ouch]

I'm with muldoon and friend.
Not as an alternative to a good steak . . .
We had bone-in ribeye about an 1" thick over hickory this weekend. Nothing like it!

Sure there is --- two of'm!!!!!! :)
PS Glenn what kind of wine goes with grubs lightly roasted, served on a bed of wild rice. Served next to a great display of young asparagus spears gently tossed in butter and herbs.
Rinaldi Bug Juice 750ml . . . About $20 a bottle.
Straw-yellow color. The bouquet is delicate and intense with aromas of fruit (apple, peach) and spices (sage). The palate is sweet and smooth with lingering aromatic persistence.

Thanks Bayview I will put that on my shopping list!
Sounds good to me.... but I am even considering trying the rats if I get to Myanmar....... [scared]

They look good enough to eat to me.... [waiting]
I've eaten silkworms... does that count? I wasn't crazy about them... it was a texture thing. The outside was the consistency of a gummy bear, but the inside was kind of dry and cottony/stringy. They tasted like fermented dirt soaked in soy sauce. Had a roommate from Zimbabwe once who told me that doctors in Zimbabwe tell pregnant women to eat mice and rats to increase their protein consumption.... she was very funny telling about watching pregnant women running around chasing field mice to roast.
Sure that counts.... adventurous... :)
Myo showed me a pix with two bigger red meat legs in it beside the rats, and asked me if I knew what it was. I don't know if the red meat in the above is the same meat or not, but he said "It's cat meat... the cat died so we ate it too."
I wonder what dog hunters taste like ???
Unless someone says otherwise, probably chicken.... nearly everything tastes like chicken.... [ouch]

I was thinking they may be the exception and taste more like skunk.
