Hi everyone,
I have some steel siding (the kind used on pole barns) that I would like to paint. What kind of paint would you recommend for a good durable finish?
Thanks
Mark
The best we used to get was Polyurethane.
If it is galvanized, a wash with vinegar or other prep material helps with adhesion.
The good metal enamels - rust resisting type work well too - I used DoIt Best on a sign frame and steel sheeting
Thanks for the reply Glenn
Do you think it would be a better idea to just buy new sheets already finished or should I try to paint the ones that I have? The ones I have are still on a pallet and have never been hung. I have enough to do a 16'x24" building.
Thanks for helping
Mark
Why spend money on something you already have???

Point well taken but my goal is to have a maintenance free siding so I dont have to repaint every five years. If the painting works then it will be worth the effort.
Thanks

My galvanized steel pole barn in WI is at least 30 years old and is not corroded at all --should go for another 30 by the looks of it
