We started a storage building that was to be 16x24 and then decided to use it as the basis for the main house by adding a 12x24 to its side. So it is now 28x24 and will be a saltbox design, with a second level above the 16x24 section. The second level will have 6 ft side walls. The main 28x24 level has 10 ft ceilings. The framing is all done with 2x8 for max insulation. The second level is supported by large cedar beams, The main front to back beam is 8x12 and 24 ft long, we have 8 beams 4x12  on 3 ft centers that will support the 2x6 t&g floor above. The main beam is supported by both end walls and will also have 4 8x8 cedar posts to support it using the large steel brackets that we had a guy fabricate for us. The main level will be open except for a 10x10 area for the main bath, There will be a ½ bath upstairs as well. The back of the house will have 3 windows 3x6 and a wooden french door 8 ft tall with a view to most of the 23 acres we are on. The house will eventually have to be moved about a hundred yards to the location where we originally wanted it, and will probably put it on a full basement foundation we can use for storage and root cellar. Basements are pretty uncommon here in texas.

Hey there devildog,
once we got the floor and deck finished for the storage building is when we changed our minds and decided that it would be a house, so no pics as a storage building. before we started putting up the 2x8 walls we added to the size of the floor increasing to 28x24, with a 2nd level above the 16x24 area. we are starting to get up the plywood sheathing now.
