Introduction

Hi everyone.  I've just joined this site and am excited to start digging in an reading the posts.  I am a 49 years old woman and have been dreaming of building a small sustainable home for years.  Now that the children are grown, my husband I have decided to do just that!  We have found 11 acres in East TN that we will be able to purchase without debt.  We plan to get to the building stage by early spring of 2014, but that's where everything starts to get cloudy.  We have lots of hops and dreams, as well as concerns and worries.  Right now we are reading everything that we can get our hands on to learn as much as possible over the next few month.

you might want to start thinking of orchards and nut trees (if they are in your vision) since they take a while

good water is critical (IMO)
