Hi All,
Since I love looking at pictures of what others have built, I thought I would share some of ours.
This cabin is not one of John's beautiful designs but we are thinking of building one of those as a "guest house" on the same property. We found this place while on vacation in Colorado. At the time (2002) it was a foundation and 4 log walls which had been standing for a couple of years. I wish I had digital pictures to show what it looked like then. The original owners had been given the opportunity to do a caretaking job somewhere else so put this up for sale. Having always been intrigued by places either half-finished or needing much rehab, we bought it. Over the next 3 summers The DH and the DSs (part-time) worked to get it finished and I must say it looks pretty darn good now. I also worked on it when possible but had to be in at home to do the work for a paycheck and healthcare thing.
We still have some things to do. Eventually I'd like tile in the LR to capture the solar on the south side and we have a wood stove to install. Build a garage. Little by little we'll get it done. Hope you like the pictures http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jwvastine/album?.dir=e567&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos

Judy:
Thanks for the link to your photos. Looks like a lovely cabin in an absolutely spectacular location. Is this high country Colorado?
Outside Creede, at about 9000ft. Beautiful!

Nice cabin and area, Judy. We enjoyed CO when we went there.
I went through your pictures again when I moved them, Judy. I was wondering if logs are half logs smooth on the inside or board lined to be smooth inside?
I was also wondering about the size. Just full of questions tonight, eh? :-/
They're D-logs, flat on the inside but not smooth. We like that rustic look. The house is about 1100 sq ft which I think is a great size.
