Title: Grandfather Cottage - new builder
Post by: Redcracker on December 16, 2012, 07:20:55 PM
I'm trying to figure out how many trusses and where they layout. My plans show 4 different trusses but not the quantities. I need to build this in my head first with complete understanding. Thanks all! Any input or photos would be great.

The large headed arrows show the spans (the length) of the truss types. The arrows going the other way show the layout width of the particular truss type. There are flat trusses and a partial cathedral type truss. All trusses are 24" o/c and the truss company will adjust the structure and number of trusses needed for you local loads. Not every truss company will come up with the same trusses and how they are connected. You could take the plans to the truss supplier and they will likely do a specific layout and truss count for free. This will be the basis of their bid price.

Ask them if the can deliver to the top of the walls as this saves a lot of lifting.
