Title: 8'x12' Simple Skid Shack
Post by: Yonderosa on July 04, 2013, 02:38:46 PM
The boss said that my stuff was taking up too much room in her cabin...  So last weekend I built a Skid Shed - Under the 120 sf = no permit needed and on Skids so the revenuers won't perpetually tax me on it.

It's big enough to be useful and small enough I was able to build it solo.

Weathered In

I haven't decided what to do about siding and trim just yet but at least its useable.

Here's a little video of the process.

Since this is just for storage of materials, tools and recreation equipment that I leave there I used a window I got for $5 at a garage sale just for light.  I did pre-frame other openings should I decide I want more openings including the ability to convert the door to a double.

Nice simple project. Not sure what you will do for the foundation. Both side beams and the floor system need to get up and out of the wet even if you set it up to drag to another location.

Haven't decided on what to do yet.  ???  The county doesn't want to see anything permanent...  Only one corner is within 6" of the ground.  Just need to find some solid temporary bases that will hold it level and withstand any lateral pressure the local free range cattle put on it while scratching...

Looks good.  Small dwellings seem to propagate storage buildings around them. ;D

Is there any ventilation?  Not seeing any, and I've had problems with lack of ventilation in a shed I built in the past.

I have some Gable End vents I've not yet put in.  I used them and the Bird Block venting on the Cabin. I'm pondering the need for something more at a lower level in the skid shack.

There is one other little building I'd like to put up...  In the vicinity of my Camera.
