Title: Garage Door Weatherstripping
Post by: n74tg on August 10, 2008, 08:35:50 PM
The girlfriend's garage door is as old as the house; about 23 years.  Needless to say, the weatherstripping has seen a better day.  Everywhere we looked, nothing turned up as an workable replacement.  Then, a Eureka moment just kinda snuck in past the cobwebs of the brain.

Why not try PVC pipe and the foam insulation tubes that are available at all the hardware stores.

We settled on 1/2" pipe and corresponding insulation.  There is a 1-1/2" screw located about every 18 inches of length that goes thru both sides of the pipe, the top side of the insulation and then on into the garage door frame.

The girlfriend is happy.
