Joaquin Jackson, member of the NRA Board of directors isn't too keen on assault weapons, or any guns that hold more than five rounds:

Michael Moore must have gotten to him too!

There are a lot of people like him; people who figure if they compromise with the anti gun forces on something like large capacity clips then they will be left alone. The problem is the anti gun forces will never quit until nobody has the right to own any firearm.

Here in the west I've seen mountain bike groups try to appease the extreme green environmentalists by making compromises on trails. Four wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, ATV's and mountain bikes are all targeted by the extreme greens. They'd like to pick us off all at once, but some of the mountain bikers have shifted too far to the green side, hoping to get rid of motorized vehicles but retain pedal access. And they've lost ground. I hope they've learned their lesson.

It's all too easy to see some gun owners, who don't have a personal interest in owning an AR themselves, agree with the anti gun extremists on the AR's. That would be a mistake though. Sometimes it's easier to chip away at rights a biy at a time than to do away with everything all at once.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I think a little pressure from all sides is a good thing. It keeps any one side from getting too carried away.
Yes, I have guns and want too keep them.
