Title: 14x24 vs 16x24
Post by: optionguru on October 12, 2006, 01:33:57 PM
I noticed in the owner builder gallery the Michigan 16x24 Little house.  From what I've seen the 14x24 is built with two rows of footings but the 16x24 is built with three rows of footings.  Could the 16x24 be built with two rows or is that pushing the limits?

I did my shed roof cabin with only 2 rows. It is 16x24

Does the fact that it's a shed roof make a difference for any reason?  I wasn't planning on using a shed roof.  How much did you cantilever the floor over the main supports?

Thanks

I don't think a shed roof means anything. I cantilever about 10" on each side.

Did you use 2x12's for the floor joists?  Any spring in the floor?

I used 2x10's. No spring yet. They are 16 inches on center.
I am thinking of adding one extra joist were the wood stove is going.
