Title: roof venting
Post by: dogneck on September 03, 2008, 08:04:35 PM
See roof venting by Dogneck under general.   I'm still trying to photos out there.  On the 14x24,   I'm using the plans for an addition to the house.  It is offset.  12' matches the house and 12' into the yard.   The yard  side would have OK roof venting.    The 12' connected to the house,  is what I'm having trouble venting.  One good suggesting on the general topics, but that brand says a 3/12 minimal pitch.  I don't think I can get that.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are doing a shed roof and the link to the core-a-vent is a good simple solution. This can also be done with flashing and counter-flashing - get a good roofer who can bend metal flashing to help with that. Here is a sketch

Another option is to foam the rafters tight and eliminate the vented space entirely. Check with you inspector on that as not all jurisdictions allow this.
