Any plans for that? I am not brave enough to try it on my own. Knowing my luck it would cave in.

Sassy

We will eventually be digging a root cellar - always seems like something more important needs to be done - it will be inside our house, in the great room, under the bridge going out from the kitchen over to the bedroom.   Right now with that section unfinished, the whole area is a root cellar for several months of the year  :)

Homegrown Tomatoes

Never had a root cellar, but we had an old storm shelter we used for the same purpose... produce would keep in there really well over the winter.  Here, I tried storing some squash and so forth in our cold storage room in our basement, and it actually froze last year... ???  Maybe our next house we'll actually build one... or we could just put in a storm cellar.

I couldn't live like that, Homegrown. :(

We are going to dig under the bridge to the bedroom and make a root cellar- maybe this year?

Stink, I have a book on it but the Underground house style should work fine.  If you get ready to do it I'll clue you in.

Still have the backhoe?hmm
