Has anyone used Block & Beam for floors? It seems like it would be a lot faster and and perhaps more resistant to certain elements (bugs, mold, rot).

Common in the UK, with our damp weather these days builders often use this type of flooring ...no rot ever ! and the lightweight blocks and beams are readily available at al the builders yards ....even the home depot holds them.

Need a diamond blade on your grinder and off you go......as from the pics however you can see UK buildings are usually cavity walls, with a dual inner and outer brick walls, the old air gap now has to be filled with insulation.

I think if you used this type of system in the US you would need to infill between the beams with solid concrete blocks rather than the lightweight blocks shown, around the perimeter so that you could securely bolt down your base plates for the timber walls.
