Reinforcement wire in mortared horizontal joints???

   When laying block on my cabin foundation do I place the reinforcement wire in the first block to footing joint and every horizontal joint after that? I have vertical rebar from the footing to what will be the top block and spaced every 32".
  My second question is when laying out the corners first do you leave the reinforcement wire stick out until you get to that row of block or do you do a row of the entire perimeter and then place the reinforcement wire in your mortar for the next row?

Have you decided to do mortared block now instead of drystack?  I used mortar between foundation and first row of block, but that was mostly just for leveling the block (and no reinforcement in that joint).

If you are doing mortared block, then seems like what I've heard is one layer of reinforcing wire every six rows of block or so, but I'd check that against someone who knows more about mortared block walls than me.

  I was thinking I would do the mortared joints because the deminsion of the walls would be more of a conventional length than the drystack method and I now I have the rebar set vertically for a mortared joint.

You would think the manufacturers of Durawall reinforcing wire would have a website showing their recommendations of wire spacing, but I don't find any.  A number of builders' websites mention placing wire every third block course ...http://dwightyoderbuilders.com/concrete.cfm.

I use mortar on my block joints.  I actually find it easier than drystacking ... and as you say, keeps the dimensions normal.  I still apply a Surface Bonding Cement coating on both sides of the block wall for additional strength and improved sealing.
