Title: Pole Barn question
Post by: kev_alaska on May 25, 2010, 10:36:44 AM
We are looking at putting a pole barn up at the cabin this summer. Initial idea was to give it 4/12 engineered trusses to match the cabin, but the truss quote was going to triple the cost of the pole barn. So I am back to giving it a shed type roof. I used the span table link that this site provided for all my projects so far, but I was wondering if there is a reference for prefab type roof joists like the ones used for flooring. The size I am looking for is for a 52x28 pole barn. My thought was if engineered roof joists would allow full span of the 28', or if I would need an intermediate beam as well.

So far, three buildings from John's plans, this will be the first one with my design.
