Thought Id inquire whether anyone knows of/has experience with "small home" subdivisions? Seems some states like Oregon are beginning to have the conversation...
Very interesting article:

I am by this guys manufacturing facility almost daily. It has been pretty quiet there lately. I did not know he was still in business. I know several sales lots around here have tried to carry his product along with the standard fare of single wides and doubles and triples. I have looked at them and freaked out over the price tag. However you can usually get a great deal on one of them when those lots go out of business. As far as these units - they seem to offer pretty good quality for what I have seen. They look more hand made than the ones made on an assembly line, but if I am going to lay out the asked $80,000 + (That seems to be the mid level from what I have seen.) Sorry but I think I would do one of John's builders cottages:

or the Big Enchilada

Even if I had to hire an out of work carpenter for day help I would be dollars ahead.
