Post by: pohmama on July 06, 2006, 01:44:38 PM
We have building in progress;just finishing moisture barrier today..(on 16x24) cottage with a loft over the kitchen and bathroom.nned access to the loft. :o Spiral stairs are too expensive for our budget..would like some type of ladder that can be pulled out from wall between kitchen and bathroom. Then pushed in or up during the day when not being used...Any ideas/plans??? Does not have to be up to code... ;) Thanks...enjoy reading about everyones projects. Will try and post some pics of our plans...

Hi pohmama.

If you really wanted a spiral stair you can build one yourself.  There is some info on the net and Ken Kern's book, The Owner Built Home has a fairly easy to build spiral stair originally designed by the USDA.  It is out of print but usually available used.
