I have done a lot on my little piece of land and I'm about ready to start my "Owner Built Project" thread and that gets me real excited!
As some may know, my wife and I have cleared much of my land, brought in a Derksen 12x32 building, brought in power, and passed my perk test. The septic man has come out more than once to check out my layout and future build. I need 310 feet of lateral line and he's going to charge me $3,000. Most people at work tell me that is a fair price.
Right about the time I realized I needed the money to pay for the septic, the plant where I work went to - all ya want - overtime seven days a week. I decided to go for the gold and work many hours a day - everyday for one month, that will get me my septic and start my "Owner Built Project" thread.
All that to say that you won't see me posting on here much for the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow marks my half-way point. I've pulled 13 hour days for about two weeks straight. So get ready to see a bunch of pics and videos of my septic man digging and then the water company coming out to my lot. Then...onto that glorious moment - the digging of pier one and onto building John's 'Little House Plans'.
I've got a bunch of videos on youtube, check'em out at: http://www.youtube.com/allanbremer
By the way, my septic man's website motto says, "We're number one in the number two business!"
If that includes the tank that sounds like a fair price.
That will be a sweet payoff for the work you put in. I wish I was able to work hourly again and get overtime, nothing like busting ass and getting paid for it.
+1 for working hard and getting paid for it!
$3000 !!! Mine was 3.5 times that much!!! ??? ???
They run at least $5000 to $6000 around here including the tank but generally around 200 feet of lines.
$2k here in Alabama for a standard system. My system will be $4500 because I have to pump the effluent up hill. Requires a pump and an extra 400 gallon tank.
We can only install the aerobic systems . . . Now about $6000
