What type of drain pipe do you like to use as a footing drain tile, the regular pipe with drain holes in it or the one with drain holes and the sock?

Thanks
Mark

I like the sock.  Some say they don't even need rock with the sock - hey that rhymes d* -- but I like rock too.

They say the sock is better because it keeps the silt out of the pipe. If I was to put in a footing drain I would bring one end up to grade so it could be washed clean once in a while. Mark

That could be a good idea - washout on the high end with the low end draining down hill to daylight.

Hi Guys,

The sock is the way to go unless you are not using stone and have a very fine clay. I have seen the sock get stopped up in under a month direct burried in fine clay. The sock was like concrete with the fines stuck in it.

Thanks, Larry.  Thats how I pictured it happening, but their advertising didn't mention it.
