Did anyone follow Carl Sagan's TV series Cosmos?  Or read any of his books?

I find some quotes of his pretty interesting...

"The Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be."

"Our matter, our form, and much of our character is determined by the deep connection between life & the Cosmos..." and in return, we have a moral duty to the cosmos.  What is that duty?  It is an 'obligation to survive,' an obligation we owe 'to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring."   Carl Sagan Cosmos (New York: Random, 1980), 4

In Sagan's book Bruce's Brain he mocks the Christian God as "an out-sized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow."  He goes on to further state "A universe that is infinitely old requires no creator."  Carl Sagan Bruce's Brain (New York, Random,1979)  287

Is Carl Sagan espousing science or religion  ???
