pier foundation

I won't receive my plans for a few days yet but want to start the foundation.  I am using cement piers with 8 inch tubes.  I will dig 3 feet to get below the frost line but what is the recommended spacing.  I have tried to find it but there are no clear cut suggestions.  What is recomended?   thank you,  Marianne Peryea
