which takes you to a broken page since EREN is now EERE.  Do you have a valid link to that study?  I tried to search for it but to no avail.

Is this house a modified version of the Universal Cottage?  What are those windows?  This would definitely fit on our lot perfect.  I think the sunroom part would be a future addition but I love it!

2nd story windows look like slider windws.

This is what I got from the government when I searched on "Oregon" and "study"  does it help?  It may be the longest URL I've ever seen.  You could probably take some of the elements out of it to get the results down to manageable size. (I'd copy it somewhere--new document, letter to somebody, even a quote to a new post here before I tried.  I'm not good at all at copying what looks like random characters.)

Same long list of things I found....too many to sort through, perhaps some more information to add to the search?  Then again it could be one of them and I just don't know which .

Oh, well.

I can't find anything in the Oregon case studies that looks like that.  something about PV water pumping might be interesting to me.  (Actually it's very strange to someone from the East who is reading Jared Diamond's Collapse--It looks like the people in the first story are trying to reforest their land with exotic--just means imported--hybrid poplars on irrigated land).

Yes, that study has been taken down and I had to delete the link and picture of the OR house.

The house in the left picture is a nice 1400sf place I designed for a couple in Monroe, WA. The photo of the sunroom/entry is from another house that was done by a student from a home design class I taught in the 1980's. It uses the sliding glass door panels and the details from this kit: http://www.jshow.com/y2k/listings/35.html

Okay, so I'm not going crazy...well not going crazier anyway.  I may try to reconfigure the universal into something similar to that house in chief architect and check her out, maybe do a shadow study in CAD on my lot to see where that sun tracks.  Are those windows mirrored or is it just a reflection?  My thoughts are to do the universal cottage and add a sunroom and porch similar to the layout on your solar saltbox.  I don't think I can get thermal mass in on our budget right now, but if we built the sunroom later with a slab, we may be able to pick up the gain.
