Eliminating beams at gable end

On the post and pier foundation plans it says that the beams can be eliminated at the gable ends if no cantilevered floor joists are supported. If I eliminated the beam on the gable end then I would want to use a single 20' 2x12 for the sill and a single 2x6 for the bottom plate to support the gable wall, right?

You would take the end joists on both gable ends and notch the post from the midspan pier for support at the midspan of what we can now call the rim joist. Then deck the floor and build the walls in standard fashion with a bottom and top plate, tilt them up and tie them all together with the 2nd plate.

Got it, thanks. Should the sill plate be doubled? Should it be made of single 20' 2x6s or would 2 10's with their joint on the post be ok?
