Title: VC Ridge Beam length
Post by: MikeT on June 12, 2007, 09:04:39 AM
If I am building the VC, should I order the (glulam) ridge beams to run longer than length of the building and if so, by how much?  Wouldn't I use this beam for the rake walls?

I would just order the nearest length to be cut to the length of the framing (end wall to end wall). Then, for the roof supports, use the 4x4 roof brackets shown on the front elevation and called out on left side elevation. These can be made up on the ground and put in place to support the outside roof extension (rake or angled rafter).
