Here is a link to a full (but small) set of plans for a 28'x30' one-story log house with a 6' front porch. A nice two-bedroom cottage that this couple built for about $30,000.
This is a plan that could be modified (with more interior room) to be a 2x6 frame house with better insulation. (Search the board for slab siding if you like the rustic log look.)
The main thing I would do is put the Dining area in a bump out with windows on three sides and downsize the massive foundation which is overkill for a lighter frame structure.

John,
I see a new set of "Country Plans" being created....go for it...this is a flexible floor plan that needs few changes...when will they be avalialbe:)
1. I like your idea in the kit.
2. I'd move the front entrance from the kit to the living room....
3. Maybe have the porch run the length of the house...and a bit wider
4. Any lofty ideas?
Have fun!
Yes, a loft or attic would work. The same system as the 20' wide 1-1/2 story roof could be used here to have a partial loft over the back and an open cathedral in the front.
A good sized attic could be done by the truss company using attic trusses.
So many ideas... so little time.... or energy.... or ambition....
