Not for me :(

I can get them to open in a new window/tab by copying the uel. But the average user can not see the url to copy it.

Really odd thing is the following urls, copied from the replies #71 and #72 sometimes open an image for me and sometimes do not.  ??? ??? ???   Do they work for anyone else? Try copying them into a new window if clickinh on them does nothing.   d* d*

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Hi again Bobby,

It's me again!!  Hope this Spring finds you well.  I know you said that the your veranda caused you no issues with the soffit, but now that I'm there in my installation, I don't understand how you vented the side of the cabin where the veranda is attached.  With the facia gone, doesn't that eliminate the option of installing soffits?

Any further explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Curt

You could put blocking in there to install the soffit to, Curt.

I am thinking about using insulation with kraft paper on my ceiling of the cottage . I don't know much about it .I am told I will require some type of hardware to install it ???.I am assuming I will not need a vapor barrier. Do I just staple this to the studs.javascript:void(0);

MountainDon

Yes you can staple the kraft backed batts up in between the ceiling joists. That's what I did to get the first layer of insulation up there. That was last fall. We installed R13 as a start and because I got a slight deal on some. This June we'll be renting a cellulose blower and blowing in about R30 worth on top of the fiberglass.

Bobby.B there is a flange on the paper side(moisture barrier) that attaches to each side of the lumber.  Generally staples are used.  By attaching to the sides it still allows you to see the lumbers face edge for attaching the ceiling/wall covering(drywall or lumber).

I found a used metal spiral stair case for $250.
Out with the drop down stairs and in with the metal sooo much better.

Siding is coming along slowly 2 walls just about done

Looks great. So jealous of the spiral staircase. $250? Score!

I had a bulldozer come in for 4 hours to start building a road to the lake .He made it about half way down the hill that's about as far as a bulldozer would make it .I guess I will have to start building some stairs now.

Alberta Curt

hey Bobby,

Haven't talked in awhile.  Hope all finds you well.  I still haven't completed my soffit under the veranda you helped me with.  Do you have any pics of the soffit work you did underneath the veranda?  Sure would be interested in seeing them.

Looks great.  What are you putting up on the ceiling?  Can't wait to see the finished product.  I am leaning doing a cabin like yours.  I was originally going to do one like Rob lemay did but I think I might like yours better now.  Keep up the good work!

Bobby.B
